Day 20 – T for Teachers, Time and Travels

A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others

Mustafa Kemal Ataturk

All what I am, all what I have is because of the teachers who have taught me, shaped me and inspired me. I have had some great teachers who like my parents have believed in me and pushed me to work harder. I was this rebel teenager at 15, who was angry at her parents who made her do 12th from a public school, even though they had promised otherwise. I wanted to go to hostel, they were scared to send a girl child. In retrospect, I understand the decision. Back then, I wanted a revenge. Had it not been for a teacher, who talked me to focus on my goal of being a doctor.

I remember me freaking out a day before my MD exam and wanting to give it a miss. One of my teachers, sat with me for next one hour telling me that I was one of her best students. 15 years later, I visited the department and I was treated with so much love. I believe I have been lucky to have wonderful teachers and mentors. I am grateful to all of them who have been there in my journey.

Time is a precious gift. I am grateful for this blessing of time.

Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.

Harvey Mackay

We tend to waste our time, by procrastinating. Yet, once gone we do not get the same time back. Make the most of your time today and do all what u want, like Shahrukh khan says “Kal ho na ho”

I always wanted to travel the world. I am grateful for all the travel experiences. It’s amazing to go to a new place, learn about it’s culture and experience a new thing. There’s still a lot on my bucket list, and I am hoping I will tick off many more until my time comes.

Travelling makes one more knowledgeable and understanding. The first time I travelled alone an international trip was to join my husband in Dubai. Back then, I used to be a novice. I booked wrong tickets because I didn’t pay attention to time in 24 hr format. Fortunately, I realised my mistake, 24 hrs before the flight when the email for check in came, and didn’t miss the flight.

One of the most amazing places I have been is Maldives. The little archipelago humbles you with it’s beauty.

The beautiful Maldives

Another trip which I remember is Georgia. We had booked a taxi for the sightseeing. We met this amazing driver, who was so well read. Those interesting discussions with him made me learn more about cold war then any text book ever taught me. Do u have any interesting travel tales ?

  1. Unfortunately Ive only ever had one good teacher despite changing schools 6 times in my life. But that one person was enough to instill belief in myself that I go back to when I doubt myself. And yep what is life if we bar ourselves from the many wonders of earth!

  2. I’ve always believed that life is the best teacher. Sometimes you pay a price to learn something, sometimes it’s just life. No book, sessions, webinar teach what life does. A good insightful read this one.

  5. I have had both best and mediocre teachers but they all teach something. Time is the best teacher and healer ever known. Perfect post!
