Day 13 – M for Mom, Music, Meditation, Memories and Mobile phones

M is the most revered letter, for it stands for Mom, mother, mummy. The one who brings us to life. The one who carries the seed, and nurtures to bring him or her to the world. She is the first teacher, a friend, a soulmate and at times she’s a father as well. I am grateful for my mother. I was a headstrong teenager and I know I must have given her anxious years. I am happy the way she shaped herself after we were out of the nest. Now a days, she’s the neighbourhood agony aunt. She keeps herself busy and I am so proud to see her happy and occupied in all the social activities.

To describe my mother would be to write about a hurricane in its perfect power. Or the climbing, falling colours of a rainbow.

M also stands for Music. I am grateful for Music and the musicians. Music transforms mood, relaxes us, energises us. There’s a music for every mood. There’s music for grief, for longing, and music for romance and emotions. There’s music for workouts and dance. Every culture embraces music. I love good music irrespective of the genre.

Music touches us emotionally, where words alone can’t.

M is for meditation as well. I am grateful that i found meditation early on as a solace battling with a dark phase in life. It helped me heal, channel my emotions and come out a stronger person. Even 5 to 10 min a day meditation is enough to keep the emotions in check and calm the brain. I personally find meditation relaxing. In the stressful lives we lead, meditation is a tool which keeps us mentally healthy.

Meditation is not a way of making your mind quiet. It’s a way of entering into the quiet that’s already there – buried under the 50,000 thoughts the average person thinks every day.

M stands for memories, and I am grateful for all the beautiful memories over the years.

Last but not the least, I am thankful for the mobile phones. These are a necessary evil now, with everything right from banking to blogging at the finger tips. Timeout is necessary so that we do not become slave to the technology.

    Mom music and memories are the loveliest words that I’ve heard for today. And yeah Memories and mom or as I may say memories of mom really stands out.

  3. Agree with you. Meditation has been a game-changer for me too. It’s helped me cultivate a sense of calm and focus in my daily life and has given me a greater sense of self-awareness.
