My closet full of clothes

I am a spendthrift. Do you know what I like spending most on. Of course, clothes. Like a typical girl, my closet is full of all the variety. Being Indian, I can’t get away with the love for bright reds, pinks and purples. Everytime, I have to go to India, and ever since e-commerce has become an integral part of our lives, I will start browsing my favourite websites and order kurtis and suits before hand. These are especially the ones I don’t get here. Then I need my glittery stuff to adorn me on festivals. I know I won’t be able to wear it anywhere, but still I’ll have them stuffed in my cupboards.

Then a part of my wear has my formal work- wears, shirts, tops, trousers, skirts and dresses. Over the last few years, I had become too fond of dresses and now so many of them hang neatly in the hangers. Some of them I know won’t even fit me now, but I somehow can’t part away with them, in the hope that I’ll try to get back into my old size.

Last winters when I went to India, I had a little extra space. So I packed all my beautiful sarees and brought them here. I know I won’t get much chance to wear them, but still I wanted them where I was.

I have a weakness for online shopping. I can’t resist the beautiful dresses and sarees. That’s why I guess my Instagram feed shows up all these e commerce websites. Earlier, I would fall for them and order. Ever since, covid started manipulating our world, I have been a little more careful with money and for the past 6 months, I haven’t ordered anything. Yet, it does not stop me from looking and oogling the display.

Yet, even with the extensive choice I have just like any other female, I don’t find anything to wear.

The other day I was cleaning my son’s closet. He’s gained height and weight, and all his clothes even those which I brought 6 months back had to be packed away from donation. Yet,today morning when I cleaned mine, I couldn’t find a single one to give away. I was envious on why my clothes didn’t get smaller so that I could buy new ones!

There have been so many I know I haven’t worn since long, yet the love for this indulgence !! Ah woman !!

I wish my closet was as neat as this one !!

Is it just the female in me, or do men do the same. My husband is fond of gadgets, and that’s where his eye is on. Though I know he is not a spendthrift as me.

What are your views on your closet? Is it as packed and as varied as mine? Do leave your comments !!

  1. I’m not much of a clothes shopper. My weakness is books and stationery! But I try to be prudent – don’t always succeed, I must confess!

  4. I am in an equally bad situation. I’ve collected so many clothes over the years, and even though I don’t fit in them anymore, I still cannot manage to give them away. I recently had to shift homes, and my clothes were the last thing I packed. When unpacking, the minute I opened the box with my clothes I shut them. I almost had a meltdown. I’ve given away 2 bags full of clothes, but I still have more with me.
